Health and Dental Care in Maine

There are several state programs new to Maryland that provide dental coverage and treatment for children.  The first is a program developed in July 1998, called MCHP (Maryland Children’s Health Program) which is very similar to other state-aid programs. Children must meet income requirements and a have a family income that falls below the federal poverty line.  The other program that is offered in the state of Maryland is MAMSI Children’s Foundation.  This program became available in 2000, and the function of it is to enhance healthcare for those who already have insurance, but may not have everything covered, primarily dental care and orthodontics.  This program is available to families who apply for a grant with the state.

Many discount dental programs are now available that offer families living in Maryland a considerable savings on basic preventive, restorative and emergency dental care. To enroll for 15 months, the enrollment fees for these plans range from $99.95-$139.95 for individuals and $129.95-$189.95 for families. Benefits included in these discount plans include:

• Full upper dentures as low as $525
